When you decide to take a principled stand, and say that someone with multiple credible accusations is probably guilty, and we should believe women, this will happen.

Honestly, this is why I thought that we needed to let the whole ‘Me Too’ thing play out, and stop reacting to all but the most egregious and well founded accusations. A lot of shit will come out. A lot of us guys have probably crossed a line here or there sometime in the past, because the lines are not defined by a single standard, but rather, now, by the experience of the recipient.

Honestly, I could see Franken’s downfall dealing a deathblow to the ‘Me Too’ movement. The firs accuser, Tweeden is already saying she didn’t want this to happen. Once accusations start becoming weaponized, women might stop coming forward not because they’re afraid nobody will act, but because they don’t want to take down someone who they think was just being insensitive or excessively familiar.

Talking about this, we’re rolling everything of all degrees into one big ball. I mean, yesterday one of the accusations was that while taking a photo, Franken grabbed a woman’s waist. Okay, perhaps too familiar, but that’s not the same thing as grabbing her ass.

Did you hear Senator Gillibrand’s comments yesterday?

She basically said everyone needs to cut out the ‘degrees’ talk and just get down to this is not acceptable behavior.
