The difference is it’s his real name. Hers isn’t and the right would usually hate her just for her name - which is why she, and Jindal for that matter, never uses it.

It’s not that we bristled at Obama’s full name, it’s the inferred perjorative.

I have no problem using a person’s preferred name. After all, Romney’s first name isn’t Mitt, Bush’s first name isn’t Jeb, and Gingrich’s first name isn’t Newt. In the past and clearly continuing to current times, many people Americanized their names to help with their careers or acceptance with the public. It certainly has been a widespread practice among actors. There’s enough reason to attack every Republican currently alive, without focusing on these distractions, though it remains sad that Americans would reject a candidate purely because of the implied ethnicity of their name.
