re: #328 ObserverArt

DId he go on the road to all his shows with those dancers…say like a Justin Timberlake or Katy Perry now? Did he take that smokey little club with him?

I don’t see a live show there. It is a video.

And come on, opera has always been a mixed media as has ballet.

In other words you missed the point.

Now the dancing and “show” may be greater than the talent…in my opinion.

I can’t say if Marvin Gaye went on the road with those dancers, hired them in locations as needed, or only did it a few times.

re: #322 Your question was “I don’t think Marvin Gaye had support dancers.” I produced a video where he did.

If you’re point was “did he always have support dancers, then I did miss the point (as you didn’t write that).

As for ballet and opera being “mixed media” (music and dancing), is there none anywhere that the dancing was not greater than the music? Or the music greater than the dancing?

“Mixed media” of music and dancing has always been around as well. If we want to focus on the music as the only part that matters and throw out the dancing or acting, we can toss all of Broadway for its whole history, artists such as Alice Cooper and Sarah Brightman, &c.

And I like Katy Perry. /phht.
