He’ll survive long enough to do what Nunes couldn’t and traffic all the relevant documentation from the Mueller investigation he can to the White House, before they suddenly ask him to vacate the AG’s office.

I think it’s possible that he’s just been ‘appointed’ to draw fire and change the subject from the midterm ass-kicking Trump got. As more information comes out (see Adam Pahramenko’s Twitter timeline, the guy is just fucking toxic), Trump will name a loyalist like Pam Bondi who won’t seem completely terrible by comparison.

Whitaker is just standing up to draw fire. He’ll never become AG.
