As to the chosen part, that is something that needs to be expounded on.

We were not chosen as more loved or better. Chosen means we were given the mission of repair of the world and to seek and create justice. The entire chosen is a double standard that applies more stringently to us.

My favorite old Jewish joke is an old man looking up and saying:
“Could you choose someone else?”
