re: #325 wheat-doggha — oo bird outside my window

Mud daubers and I don’t get along. Every house I have lived in, except the apartment in Wyoming, hosted mud daubers. And we have wasps in China, too. Their stings burn at first, then the affected area turns numb.

I’ve posted I have an old house. I see every species of wasp and hornet around here. When working outside, I always have a can of wasp spray. I’ve gotten pretty good at knowing how to work around them.

One time, I spent a day working outside and watching a mud duaber flying down to a wet drainage ditch I had going and then flying up near me to dump the mud on his little nest hanging on the brick just under the overhanging eve.

I see tons of black wasps too. Hornets scare me, because they seem more angry.

Bugs can be a fascinating study as your doing manual labor sitting on some scaffold taking a break. So industrious and playing way over their size.
