Since we’re on the topic of food and grilling (mmmm… gamy buttocks), I made the first batch of scape pesto this year. Yum! Picked up a bunch of scapes at the local farmer’s market and then blended the pesto (I use an immersion blender, but you can use a food processor or a blender), EVOO, and threw in some walnuts plus salt and pepper and a bit of lemon juice.

Super easy to make and it can be added to soups, sauces, or as base for a marinade. The Mrs. puts it straight on salads, and I’ve used it straight on steaks or chicken.

I usually buy a batch of scapes and then freeze the pesto for use the rest of the year (it freezes super well, and you can batch it as ice cube size too).

I had to look up scapes.
