re: #320 dangerman

perot was and sounded way smarter (he had charts!)
and as an outsider to politics was just a bit too….goofy, off, buffoonish

the country wasnt ready to take ‘buffoonish’ seriously and put it behind the desk

ps - as president he would have been way over his head. not knowing anybody or having a clue how it all worked. and so much is foreign policy, not ‘management’ or budgets

still he would have been light years better than this our first foray into outsider / buffoon

Perot’s TV ads were mesmerizing and demonstrated a mastery of certain topics. Unlike Trump, he truly was a successful businessman in a field of modern technology. I have no doubt that he would have hired “the best and the brightest” for those areas where he lacked expertise. He was/is crazy but he would have demanded knowledge and not slavish loyalty from those he appointed. Given his eccentricities, who knows what he actually would have accomplished.

If you want a businessman for President, prior political experience should be a must — someone like Bloomberg, perhaps, if he were 15 years younger.
