And they were right: he was. The big difference, though, between LBJ and Trump is that the former knew how to act in “public”: he kept the swearing and dirty language (and Texas-style political thuggery) well off-the grid: and made sure his people did the same: Johnson came from the Old School of politics: the “front” -one’s public reputation and/or image - was everything. Of course, as big a sleaze as LBJ was, he couldn’t hide everything to be sure; but at least he made the effort to keep up a respectable front: Trump doesn’t even bother….
