Made mine from a tube-style cotton sock and two medium-large spring-steel paper clips, where each clip has 2 stainless-steel “handle” parts that one would normally squeeze to “open” the clip. These handles are shaped such they can interlock (with mild tension), but they can disengage easily with a slight twist. So it’s basically a 3-part off-the-shelf DIY mask covering nose and mouth. No sewing required. No elastic (except the tube sock itself.) Ears are not involved. (It may cover lower part of ears.)

Such clips can be found in office products section of some stores, such as Wa**-Mart, or some on-line stores. Mine were the largest of an assortment of sizes in one package.
