BTW, in case it hasn’t been noted here yet, this Washington Post piece (ATTN: paywall alert) dredges up a bit more background on SoS Pompeo, and the firing of Steve Linik, the State IG.
Apparently, the errand-running and dog-walking stuff is just chaff: the main investigation Linik is supposed to have been conducting relate(d) to the “emergency” declaration last year enabling $8B of arms sales to Saudi Arabia - skirting, it seems, the rules for Congressional approval/disapproval of such sales.
