We have to distinguish between labor as a commodity and labor as a human state, one that confers not only a wage, but a standard of dignity and self-respect upon the worker.

Part of that dignity is the ability to live off one’s wages.

That is something that is totally lost to the hard-core Free Marketeers out there.
