I remember it too. Lived in Colorado, 6th Grade

When I got to class, I blurted out right at the beginning that a plane had flown into the WTC (School started at 7:10, and I heard about it on the radio. Station 99.9) The teacher told me to be quiet. About 30 minutes later, she recieved an email detailing what happened. Nothing else teaching wise happened that day.

My Home Room teacher didn’t allow us to see the footage live, (unlike every other class in the building), as he thought we were too fragile. As a result, I didn’t get to see the news footage of that day until 2010. Because of this, Katrina was the big event in my life that caused everything to pivot. It brought me to OU, and eventually, through that led me to Islam.
