Gun control would be a positive thing, but the political resistance against it is far too strong for it to be a viable strategy, and those proposing it focus on long arms rather than on handguns, where it should be. It’d be great, awesome, if we could get incredibly strict gun control, but we can’t, because of the fetishization of gun culture and the lack of gun control proponents focusing on actually important shit like handguns. It’s too bad, but I completely accept that this is our political reality.

Now, do you understand why ‘locking up the violent ones’ is not going to work as a solution to gang violence, with or without the involvement of guns?
