Do we really? While we’re engaging in historical parallels, let’s consider that the Roman Republic existed for centuries and yet was twisted into becoming an empire in just a matter of years. The word “dictator” did not always have negative connotations.
It’s much too late an hour for me to enter into that, but I don’t think the cases are similar enough for that to be helpful. And DT is neither as charismatic as Julius Caesar nor as smart as Octavian. Octavian was capable of building alliances as well, which DT certainly isn’t.
