So far the market looks like it will open down a bit tomorrow. Look for a mixed bag of profit numbers being announced next week.

More hopeful glimmers, but more bad news, too

Retail sales, which account for about half of consumer spending, probably rose 0.3% in March, according to the survey of economists conducted by MarketWatch. Sales fell 0.1% in February and jumped 1.8% in January. The March numbers will be released Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.
Auto sales rose nearly 8% in March after hitting a decades-low level in February. Automakers said credit was more available to qualified buyers in March, which could account for the bounce back. Buyers might also be more confident that they’ll be able to make their payments, especially now that some automakers are offering job-loss insurance.
