Once a voice of sanity and moderation, RW radio host Charlie Jones of Texas Overnight has really been howling at the Moon lately. The other night, he castigated the Obama administration, ICE, and the CDC for “allowing” two Americans with ebola to be brought to this country for treatment.
His late night callers bayed their support in unison, some quavering in fear at an imminent epidemic that will somehow kills thousands, if not millions, of Americans even though only 1100 cases have been reported in west Africa in 4 months.
Not one person pointed out that there is no legal mechanism for the government to deny re-entry to a citizen. A citizen can be arrested or quarantined upon entry, but they cannot be deported or denied entry. It just wasn’t the CDC’s call, let alone Obama’s. One caller thought the CDC, a federal agency, was a “left-wing NGO.”
