You know, the Swiss have a heavily-armed population too, in fact it’s probably just like the “well-regulated militia” that Jefferson envisioned. Yet they don’t have these mass shootings happen every week. Sorry to sound like a cranky old conservative (which I’m obviously not), but I sometimes think there’s something uniquely fucked up about our culture.

The difference there:

Rules regarding firearms in Switzerland differ markedly from those in other European countries. Under Swiss law, all adult males who have received training in the Swiss armed forces are reservists who are required under law to keep their official firearms at home. According to the gun law of 1999 (larm99), automatic weapons like the Swiss army assault rifle have to be stocked separately of the bolt, which has to be in a locked place.

Slight difference from every yahoo who is upright with a pulse being able to buy as many guns as he wants.
