They are in the Guard on a voluntary basis.

For perspective, the Kent State massacre was just one troop (I believe the one stationed just northwest of Sandusky). And they lost control of the situation before opening fire and murdering four and paralyzing several others.

Ordering the Guard to be his personal MAGAguard in every nook and cranny of this country is fucking impossible.

It’s absolutely folly, only floated because he needs to throw a bone to his base… a bone that is nothing but vaporware.

However, the military is suborned to the civilian government. If the Guard were nationalised, they would then be subject to the Federal government.

I wouldn’t hang my hopes on a mutiny within the National Guard of significant enough size to be meaningful.
