Canned dog food? That had to be done at the factory. And who gets their hands on pentobarbital without a prescription? (It’s not just a euthanasia drug though - it’s used for a sedative, a hypnotic [anti-convulsant] and for emergency seizure control.

Not the first time phenobarbital has been found in dog food, usually in just trace amounts. How does it get in there? The only way I can think of is that they are including euthanized pet animal meat, likely sold to them by those who were charged with disposing of the animals properly but “got lost” on the way.

This is why I cook for my dogs. That and the fact that my precious Sheltie was poisoned to death by Chinese gluten that was “enhanced” by melamine.
