These “good guy with a gun” people think violence telegraphs itself like in a movie, but violence doesn’t come with musical cues, with a sinister presence spied fleetingly at the edge of the frame. It comes suddenly. It comes unexpectedly. It comes without suspense. And the good guy with a gun has little hope in the face of it.
