If you’re 80+ that may well be true. The impossible hurdle for Harris was three fold though: female, black &, yes, a cop. One of those can be overcome by a good enough candidate but in today’s environment no one is going to overcome all three. I expect Warren to be the candidate this time and I expect that, absent serious Russian ratfucking, she can win.

Post her, then there will be other candidates of color and perhaps even candidates with LEO backgrounds though that will require serious rehabilitation of the entire legal system first. No matter how “good” a cop Harris was, she was still a prosecutor working within an utterly corrupt system and too many people could not look past that, and they are not just Berniebros. This is, in the end why she could not get enough money, I would argue.

The main problem with Harris was that she didn’t have a clear message. And, in addition, women face more discrimination in attaining office than men in general. She was one of the candidates I supported; she would have been an excellent choice; but in this field with too many choices, she did not stand out because she didn’t have a fanatic fan base. I am so afraid that that the nominee could be Bernie, who like Trump, is a Russophile. And he will lose in a landslide to Trump or any Republican, who will tar him as a socialist.
