I’m wondering, all these years the entire MSM has ignored all this. Why all of a sudden are they pushing this full blast?

I’ve been scratching my head on this one as well. Speaking for mainstream conservatives, we’ve known all along that Paul is a kook - or something. However, our left-wing friends have seemed to give Paul a pass. My guess is because they’ve seen the more effective and likable conservatives as bigger targets that they fear will pick up the centrist vote - much like what happened in 2010. No reasonable individual ever really took Paul seriously.
