I don’t think Trump would have been as magnanimous as Douglas MacArthur was in that famous photo leading the article: The two generals standing behind MacArthur are Gen. Jonathan M. Wainwright, whom MacArthur had been forced to leave in charge of the US forces in the Philippines and be overwhelmed by the Japanese when FDR ordered him to Australia in 1942, and General Sir Arthur Percival, the British general who had been defeated at Singapore. Donald Trump would have dismissed both such men as losers.

Hell, Trump would have mocked MacArthur had footage existed of MacArthur diving into a ditch in New Guinea after Japanese mortar fire started landing nearby when in fact MacArthur was just being prudent and had directed those around him to take cover as well.

Donald Trump would be barely fit to shine Douglas MacArthur’s shoes.
