The notion of a euro-based clearing house is devilishly smart. It, not the individual companies, would process all the transactions with Iran, hence defanging the letter (if not the spirit) of the US sanctions.
I can only again recommend this book;
It describes a post-literate America (we are halfway there) after the currency collapse, dollars are all but worthless and if you want anything beyond the basics to survive on, you need access to Yuan-backed or (Northern) Euro-backed valyuta.(we are a step closer to that as well).
Spoiler: it does end well, either for our protagonist nor the country…
