I don’t expect it to change, but I do expect the blow to be lessened if A) the shutdown is short, B) the damage is reduced (i.e. back-pay), or C) the GOP leadership can shift the anger from them to “the establishment.”

I haven’t heard much about the “establishment” lately. I’m inclined to doubt that will sway many, but we may find out. (I’m hoping we don’t have to.) The other two would lessen the damage.
