Republicans vote the way they do because the GOP appeals to their irrational resentments. Since this is not a rational position, it is impossible to reason them out of supporting Trump/GOP.

The path to a D victory in 2020 does not rely on converting even a single Republican. It relies on turning out the D base (and, unfortunately, on the mushy middle in the purple states).

I know all about mushy purple states. My fellow “liberal” Jerseyites made Christie governor twice. I see that worked out well.

And apologies to Philly Pretzel and other PA residents, but I was so infuriated with the way Pennsylvania voted. I went hard after a FB acquaintance who was openly unapologetic about not casting a vote for POTUS because Magic Balance Fairy and she wasn’t going to compromise her “principles” (the woman is dumb as a fucking rock).

The mushy purple middle is what keeps me up at night, regarding November.
