I’m no fan or admirer of his but he’s likely to be replaced by someone much worse.

Gov. Phil Bryant wants to appoint the Agriculture Commissioner to fill out his term. She was a Democrat who after election to the legislature flipped to the Republican Party.

Wingnuts don’t like her (because former Democrat). Thad Cochrane’s wingnut opponent wants to run for the seat, and polling suggests that a Democratic candidate has a chance there.
