re: #327 Barefoot Grin

For years I walked through manufacturing plants as I picked up, delivered. Spoke with many people from all levels of importance and wage. Used to hear over and over about OSHA, and what they made them do. What a pain in the ass, usually from the management side, but guys on the floor parroted them.
Saw, watched, employees pour liquids down storm drains, spread contaminated oils on dirt entries, work with solvents with no gloves and no air recycling. Grinders throwing shit everywhere. Spot welders sparks setting shit on fire.red hot rebar jumping out of channels and shooting across the floor. Rockwool machines spewing clouds of fibre in the air. Welders in areas with no air flow.
“What do I do with this, boss?”
Chuck it in the trash.
“It” has skull and crossbones on it.
I had to pick up waste from a Dayton Ohio plant of ours that closed. It was because it was toxic shit that had to be removed. It was barrels and machinery and all manner of God knows what. It was leaking by the time I got back to central Pa.
If I wanted my job, I didn’t ask any questions.
Neither did those other guys.
You have no idea what goes on in places.
And safety is just a big hassle, don’t worry, shut up.
And it just got worse.
