I know the claim is dubious given the source but it would be so on brand for this fucked up, corrupt administration to shoot down one of our own drones then try to blame it on Iran as a pretense for a war.

That would be the legitimate military definition of a false flag attack, not the conspiratorial nonsense you hear around events like 9/11.
