Joe Lieberman owed the American people and the people of Connecticut something however. The polls show at least 60% of the population in Connecticut in favor of the public option (with similar results for polls of the rest of the nation) despite being uncertain about the overall bill. Lieberman was one of the earlier sources of the proposal that came up to extend Medicare eligibility to 55 to 64 year olds. Yet he used his position of having the swing vote to block both the public option and even just extending Medicare eligibility from even being voted on. One senator denied millions of Americans any chance of even having the health care reform measure that a majority of Americans and a majority of people of Connecticut wanted from even being considered.

I don’t see much reason to consider Lieberman a good man, or much else positive.

The way he’s been acting, you’d think he was an independent. Oh….
