I actually use “y’all” on a fairly regular basis in conversation. It took a while to get used to, but dammit, English demands a distinct 2nd-person plural pronoun! Of the available possibilities are “y’all,” “youse” ” and “yiz.” However, the latter two fail when it comes to a possessive form, whereas “y’all’s” also remains distinct and pronounceable.
Pittsburgh-speakers use “you ones”. We pronounce it “yunz”.
