IIRC, sugar is not ‘one of the’ things your brain runs on. It’s the ONLY thing your brain runs on. Glucose, to be exact. When you’re all out of reserves, your body CAN make it out of things like fats and proteins, but not well, or efficiently, which explains why when your blood glucose levels get really low you may make really bad decisions.
