I’m not a tax attorney, but this:

Just like with conflicts of interest, he wants to do more than what the Constitution requires. So President-elect Trump has decided, and we are announcing today, that he is going to voluntarily donate all profits from foreign government payments made to his hotels to the United States Treasury. This way it is the American people who will profit.

… doesn’t sound like it’s on the up and up.

It sounds a lot more like he’s trying to set up the US government as an alter ego of the Trump Organization. I mean, what happens when those hotels don’t make a profit but for payments by foreign governments? And what if foreign governments decide not to use Trump hotels now? This feels like some straight up oligarchical bullshit.
