BTW, does anybody here know the origin of the [presumably urban-legend] story that Steely Dan broke up in 1980 because Walter Becker had gone to prison (10 years?) for killing someone in a bar fight?
My wife swore that she had read the info in some reliable periodical some time back, but a thorough perusal of all available bios (including, sadly, the many obits) says nothing about it - which is not the sort of info likely to be suppressed.
Even Snopes had nothing: the nearest thing I could find via Google
was an old SD fansite hashing over whether Becker had been arrested for statutory rape in Hawaii in the ’80s (again, no evidence or records).
“Just one of those stories”???
