I have studied this stuff for decades. I am absolutely convinced that the “harmless” claims paved the way for antivaxx, 1-6, and the constant enabling of mass murder. There is, in fact, a direct connection in many cases. Alex Jones started with UFOs and alien abductions 30 years ago. In recent years, many Repug conspira-liars have gone back to UFOs almost as an aside from their usual conspiracy tack. There is an assumption of the consequent in all this. If “they” can fake the Moon landings, or conceal alien contact for 70 years, it would be easy for them to stage a false flag school shooting, or invent a fictitious disease to bring people under control.
