We were thinking of getting guinea pigs for our girls (ages 7 and 9). Are they easy to care for? Easy to handle? Do you think my kids are too young yet?

Pretty easy to take care of. We kept ours in a pet taxi that you’d move a dog or cat in, and used wood shavings as litter. They tend to have gentle dispositions and aren’t going to do anything more than give a small nip to your daughters if they’re mishandled, but at the same time, they’re easy to handle and play with. A fenced-in yard is a great place to take one outside.
