That’s total shares, but most transactions involve multiple shares traded. Let’s say I own 500 shares of Widgets International, I see it has doubled in price the last week, so I decide to sell 150 shares. That’s likely one transaction, not 150 transactions.

I meant transaction in the sense of an individual share being sold. Sorry, I used the wrong term.
