I think this sub-thread explains why my brother wants 80+ acres of land to build his house on. Not only the seclusion of not being that close to neighbors (which he sort of has now), but the ability to sets things up so that he doesn’t even see them in the distance.

I grew up on 80 acres. Never had the sheriff show up at any of my older brothers’ parties or mine until about 1983, when someone built a house on the hill across the gully and the sound carried…it also didn’t help that people were out doing target practice with guns…that tends to make flatlanders who move to the country nervous.
