This has been a major concern for a lot of people, however, LEDs lumens should be measured in delivered light. You may not get the general glow of say an incandescent, but a lot of that light is wasted. In other words, incandescent light illuminates everything, yet illuminates nothing in particular. Where as LED light illuminates exactly what you need illuminated.
I am not some weird light bulb fetishist, I use to work in a corporate office for HD supply. LOL.

But doesn’t that depend on the sort of lighting fixture it is in? In other words, if I have a reading lamp with the standard vertical positioning of the bulb, how would a LED specifically illuminate what I’m reading? With a directional light, or spotlight, that would be fine, but when one is using a light to illuminate a room and as task lighting, the directionality is a problem.
