Breakthrough cases may have been rare pre delta, but they may have become much more common since delta has spread throughout the land. But I think that even under delta, the vaccinated are very likely to experience relatively mild symptoms, at least sufficiently so as not to require hospitalization. We need more study on that.

Some people are still saying it’s the sickest they’ve even been, but those are people who have never been sick enough to be hospitalized. Symptoms seem to be flu-like, which is bad, but it’s not destroying their bodies like it does for the unvaccinated.
