I especially liked the simple, unadorned uniform Prince Harry wore to the wedding. 4 service ribbons, all legit, and his pilot wings, that’s it. I’ve been cringing for the last 20 years as our own officers seem to be done up more and more like Ruritanian field marshals when they, say, testify before Congress. The acres and acres of ribbons and badges and other trinkets are not necessary, they are confusing to the public, and they send the wrong message. This was an issue while I was still in the Army, with the advocates of ostentation apparently having won the debate.
