Just thinking aloud about Columbus/Indigenous People’s Day, I understand the desire to have an Italian-American celebration day like many other cultural groups here in the US. How about St. Francis of Assisi Day? He was not into conquest and slavery, he’s got the Catholic heritage part (better than Columbus, IMHO), and his feast day is in….early October. Perfect.
