I think a lot of whites and I say this as a white guy and hell I know I have my blindspots but they think you have to be either KKK level racist to be racist and if you’re not that, then you can’t be a racist and that’s just not true.

I can’t remember now who said it or where I first read it, but it was something to the effect of, use the word “prejudice” instead of “racism” because it might not result in as much of a defensive or knee-jerk reaction. So rather than “that’s racist”, you could say “that comment/opinion/whatever shows prejudice because…” and then go from there.

Like freetoken and Ghost of a Flea often say, certain words have been imbued with magical powers/meaning, so using a less-common word that essentially means the same thing might, in some circumstances, give you better results.
