Let’s go down the list, shall we?

1) Economic collapse? - In progress.
2) Social and moral decay? - Weimar “outrages” would be PG or PG-13 today.
3) Armed radicals, left and right? - Check, and we can expect a continuation of political violence.

I didn’t say we’re there. Not yet, but the slide is there. A once great nation, suffering the effects of bearing ALONE the costs of a war, economic downturn, a fragmented culture, moral decline, contempt for the rule of low left, right, and center, and political violence in a time of weak and ineffective governments. We’ve got a light case of the Weimar flu; give it time.

(1) Some conservatives are claiming an economic collapse is in progress. I don’t know if this is the same as an economic collapse actually being in progress.
(2) Haven’t people claimed social and moral decay throughout the history of civilization?
(3) No doubt some radicals have guns. How could they not? How many cases of Right v. Left violence have we heard of happening in this country?

I don’t know, I think we’ll be here ten, twenty years from now still arguing the same topics. Just the names will have changed.
