I always thought it was kind of sick how that the French let half their fleet get blown up by the British in Mers-el-Kebir, given the circumstances, but blew up the rest of their ships in Toulon a couple of years later.
It still pisses off a lot of the French, but the English were right to sink anything that didn’t make an attempt to leave France. Frankly (if you’ll pardon the expression :) the French Navy was too damn good to let the Nazi’s have it for free.
