I’m confused by the expanding guns to teachers meme. The same people who are pushing for crushing unions and vilify teachers because they teach at public schools and are likely to be anti-creationist and believe in the separation of church and state are now seeking to arm these same teachers with firearms.

These same folks pushing the meme are also among those who will not coincidentally claim that if there’s a new civil war that they’d be better armed than the liberals. Well, putting firearms in the hands of hundreds of thousands of teachers might well change that calculus? Or did they not think that through (or that far).

Then again, they would probably hope that the right kind of teacher gets firearms, not those nasty liberals.

Isn’t there some logical fallacy that states:

“When confronted with a debate that confuses, simply spout known rhetoric over and over until your adversary retreats”

?
