What is it about FLG that the Party has trouble with? I have read that Russia is cracking down on Jehovah’s Witnesses. (They are not banned in Germany, but are denied the status as a religious organization).

Falun Gong is independent of the Party and state, which the government dislikes. Plus, FLG practitioners held a mass demonstration in 1999 or so, which scared the bejesus out of the Party. They don’t want another Tian’anmen movement, so they swiftly put the movement down as a subversive group.
