It’s been a while since I mocked those paranoid preppers who somehow think that gold is a good hedge against societal collapse. Imagine how much more ridiculous bitcoin would be in this situation:
“Hey, you! Yeah, you with the gun! I’ll give you this fistful of solid gold Krugerrands for part of that stray cow you just shot.”
“Er, no thanks. Got any barbecue sauce?”

I really revved up a goldbug libertarian I knew when I told him that gold, like paper dollars, is only valuable because people think it’s valuable.
