This “argument” makes about as much sense as an accused bank robber claiming:

“Laws against bank robbery were written in days when banks were few, unregulated, underfinanced, and dealt mainly in gold and silver coins. In today’s world of interstate, multinational banking institutions backed to the tune billions of dollars, such laws are obsolete and should be ignored.”
